Highlights from the 2016 Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI)

The Houston OCD Program was excited to partner with the International OCD Foundation to host yet another Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI). The BTTI is an intensive three-day training on OCD and related disorders. The training took place April 22nd-24th and 30 clinicians from all over the United States attended as well as three international therapists, from Spain and Iceland. The Houston OCD Program kicked off the training by hosting a Reception at our facility to welcome all of the presenters and attendees at the training.

The training was directed by Dr. Alec Pollard, PhD, who taught participants how to recognize and diagnose OCD, as well as how to manage treatment ambivalence. Presentations from other key speakers included a pharmacotherapy presentation by Psychiatrist Joyce Davidson, MD, treating OCD in children by Aureen Wagner, PhD, treating Hair Pulling by Patrick McGrath, PhD, and a presentation on Hypochondriasis by our Program Director, Thröstur Björgvinsson, PhD, ABPP.

The training was brought to a close on Sunday with the attendees breaking into small groups to present case studies and formulate treatment plans. Drs. Björgvinsson, Pollard, Wagner, and McGrath, were joined by John Hart, PhD and Constantina Boudouvas, LCSW to lead the small group sessions. The Houston OCD Program would like to thank all of the BTTI speakers and attendees for contributing to another successful BTTI event!
