Embarking on the construction of our new clinic has been quite the excitement among the Houston OCD Program team since our Ground Breaking Ceremony in August 2014. The new building is rising in the beautiful Heights neighborhood of Houston and is on schedule to open its doors late summer of this year.
What is currently a shell of what is yet to come, the Houston OCD Program is expanding and will continue to deliver individualized evidence-based treatment for individuals struggling with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorders, phobias, and depression.
The Mediterranean-style, 2-story building with dual staircases will house up to eleven residents. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed by our director and a unique team of architects to facilitate treatment among all levels of care.
When you first walk into the new residential building, you will find yourself surrounded by an immaculate, state-of-the-art interior. To the right, you will see the living area with a fireplace for those cold, Houston winter nights. Residents and staff will spend many evenings in this area watching movies and playing games after having a home cooked meal.
Walk a little further and you will find yourself in our fully equipped kitchen, which will make any chefs’ mouth drop! On the outskirts of the building, clients will be able to sit outside, under our covered porch while either working on exposures from the individualized treatment plan designed in collaboration with one of our behavioral therapists or to simply enjoy the luxury of the Heights neighborhood during a lunch break or in the evenings.
After a full day of treatment, some individuals might want a fresh breath of air before dinner. One of the neat things about the Heights is that you can walk just about anywhere! Coffee shops, restaurants, and parks are all in a close proximity. Several restaurants are within walking distance for lunch and dinner outings for our clients and the lovely Bayou trails are also close by for our clients who enjoy the outdoors.
The team at Houston OCD Program is counting down the days until we are able to experience the great pleasure of treating our clients at the new location. Spacious parking for our outpatients and a warm waiting area are just the beginning of what is yet to come.
